Digital SLR Print Ratios

Digital SLR sensors capture photos in a 3:2 ratio. That means when you have a photo printed at 8×10, you will have to crop your photo or have white marks on the side of the print to make all of the photo fit. That is because an 8×10 is a 4:5 ratio not a 3:2 ratio.

Frame sizes are not common when you only follow the 3:2 ratio, but if you are interested in custom framing you will be able to print your photos at large sizes and still follow the ratio for prints.

3:2 print ratios:

4×6
8×12
10×15
12×18
16×20
20×30
24×36
32×38
40×60

A very affordable source to print your photos is AdoramaPix, they offer very large print ratios up to 24×36 and print on extremely professional paper. Their paper options are Kodak Endura Metallic, Linen, and Lustre papers. These papers are thick, very rich colors, and scream professional quality. Adorama also quickly ships your photos in shrink wrapped packaging, so your photos are in top shape when you receive them. I highly recommend AdoramaPix.
