Canon EOS 50D Firmware 1.0.6 ISO Comparison

ISO Comparison this test is a comparison of the latest ISO noise performance changes that were implemented with Canon 50D firmware upgrade 1.0.6 released on April 23, 2009.

After upgrading the firmware of the EOS 50D I then placed it on a tripod and using the EF 24-70 F/2.8 L lens I took a series of photos to illustrate the ISO noise performance gains associated with firmware 1.0.6. I placed the camera on a tripod, used a remote release, shot in manual exposure to keep the exposure identical for each photo. Additionally, I shot at F/2.8 and focused on the BBQ bottle on the left side of the scene. The following ISO range from ISO 100 – 12,800, all of these shots are without any noise reduction or image sharpening. Canon DPP 3.6.1 was used as the raw converter. A version with default NR recommendations will be posted shortly.
