Canon XSi Beginners/Help

How to use your Canon XSi

Welcome to the world of Canon EOS and digital SLR’s.

Digital SLR’s provide an ever expanding ability to be more creative, capture more moments, and all around produce higher quality photos than current point and shoots.  A lot of people purchase DSLR’s and never read the manual and sadly never learn  how to use some of the basic features that can really help improve the quality of their photos.  This blog is created with the hope of opening the eyes of DSLR owners and helping them learn to use their DSLR’s in exciting new ways.

Your Canon Digital SLR is an amazing piece of tech capable of extremely high quality image and artistic results.  The  first step in taking control of your digital SLR is really understanding that the auto modes such as  “green box full auto”, sport, portrait, closeup  are all automated and while convenient will hold you back.

You do not need an XSi to use this guide, you can have an older digital rebel, a Nikon, a 50d or 5d it doesn’t matter.  You just need an SLR and the will and patience to read and practice.

You need to take the time to read a few of these lessons, gain an understanding of intimidating terms such as exposure, scene composition, and aperture.  These aren’t hard, and once you get the fundamentals down you will quickly have your friends and family asking how you got that shot!

So to begin, this guide is about stepping away from the auto modes and learning to use the true raw power of your camera to capture images and make them the way you envision.
