Proper XSi care

The XSi is not a weather sealed camera, in fact only the 1d series is truly weather sealed. This means you should take precautions to not expose your XSi or similar model to water, if it begins to rain put that camera away! If water gets inside the camera, rust and corrosion can occur, and cause your camera to malfunction.

When changing lenses, always point the camera body down, dust is your enemy and you should do whatever you can to keep dust out of the camera to begin with.

If you start to notice more dust or anything on your shots, use the sensor cleaner from the menu. If that doesn’t help, you can use a rocket blower and attempt to blast some air to clear the dust. Do not EVER use an office air can – the kind you clean keyboards with. There is alot of contaminents in those air cans, you can ruin your sensor easily by using one. Also do not touch the sensor with anything, and do not use a q tip. If your sensor is really bad, you can take it to a professional store or send it to canon for a cleaning.
